| In the marine environment, positive law generates multiple zones and regulatory limits that overlap in space, justifying a cartographic representation as a relevant approach to promote understanding (synthetic vision), analysis (highlighting legal anomalies, inconsistencies and redundancies), dissemination and communication to different audiences (awareness-raising). The article presents a methodology leading to the mapping of marine and coastal environmental law in West Africa, using a geographic information base to produce static or interactive cartographic representations via a Geographic Data Infrastructure (GDI). | After a reminder on the program SYSCOLAG (Coastal and Lagoons Systems), of the regulatory and legislative context in territorial economic planning on the coast, we describe the structure of the developed methodological tool. We clarify then the method according to its three main trunk roads: effects of the activities and uses on the economy of the territory, the effects of the activities and uses on the natural environment and the living environment, the evaluation of the interactions between activities and uses.
